Toss Back Tuesday: rePURPOSE

Welcome to my third quarterly (annually?!) addition of Creative Dexterity's 'Toss Back Tuesday', where I go deep into my 'Creative Archives' of arts, crafts, metalsmithing and beyond. It's a chance for me to revisit and showcase my previous work!
Since Earth Day is this month I thought my rePurposed Computer Key Jewelry collection would be a great Toss Back Tuesday feature!
Picture this, it's the late 2000's and there was a battle of two teams; or at least there was in advertisement: Team Mac or Team PC.
It was also around this time were I, fresh out of art school, realized I needed a steady income to pay for a health insurance scam...err plan; or at least find a job that provided those “benefits”. So I became a 9-5 office, stationed at a desk in front of a computer worker with little to no access to a window which for a creative individual was a challenge! I wanted a Severance (before the concept of the show)...I wanted an escape.

Put all of these things together (along with a few broken keyboards at my disposal) my Escape rings emerged in 2008.
Those were the first of a variety of pieces from the collection and I've always loved the challenge of incorporating found objects into my jewelry aesthetics; especially if I could do something beyond drilling and gluing components together. My preference has always been to treat a found object like an timely honored centerpiece surrounded by dedicated craftmanship.
