Fordite, also known as Detroit agate, may look like a unique beautiful stone but it is in fact various layers of old enamel automobile paint that has hardened. Once hardened it is cut and polished and repurposed as a cabochon! Fordite is one of a kind and I couldn’t help but want to repurpose it into jewelry.

These unique Fordites cab were set in sterling silver setting with a distinctive line pattern front surface. Studs were oxidized (darkened) in front to enhance texture then brushed back to a matte finish, back has polished surface and my initials. Sterling posts are notched and come with larger ear nut to ensure a sturdier fitting on ear lobe.
